Unmotivated at work - how can I motivate myself to work?

The day is long, the workload is heavy and your motivation has hit zero. You drag yourself into it unmotivated, going through the motions. But how can I motivate myself to work? Easier said than done, and yet doable and then crowned with success. A lot in life comes down to attitude or a self-inflicted mess. The latter is not the point of this exercise. To keep from going under at work, you need a complete package that you run yourself. And that's exactly where we're starting today.

Unmotivated – it doesn't have to be this way

Work frustration instead of enthusiasm for work is commonplace in many companies. When we put the negative into words, we also give it power. Focusing instead of criticizing is the order of the day. After all, there are two sides to life, and so we gracefully slide back to the positive side of the working world. In doing so we take the initiative and reflect on ourselves. Only through self-motivation do we reach our goal. The executive suite contributes little to it. Start the morning with a smile, because it's not for nothing that they say the end of one workday is the start of the next. So the real thing already begins at the breakfast table. You have to look forward to the next few hours at the office and see every task as a challenge. It has to be done either way. With humor and charm and nice colleagues behind you, working life immediately looks a lot rosier. So don't fall out with your like-minded coworkers, because they often have your back when you're about to go under. Workplaces are, in the truest sense of the word, meeting places with a shared goal. We all have to get our day's work done.

Unmotivated – pure structure, and don't toot your own horn

Turn your job into a calling, and remember, don't toot your own horn. With a certain structure and discipline you also climb the career ladder step by step. After all, you want to make it to the top and not go down like a sack of flour. Those who are in touch with themselves and show interest get much further in life. Changes aren't always negative, either, but should be seen as added value. That way, expectations and their opposite, frustration, can be steered in a positive direction. Whoever plans ahead has almost already won, because you sidestep the "surprises come when you least expect them" trap. And then you won't stay unmotivated but will tackle things with enthusiasm and joy. And always remember "nobody's perfect", not even you, and that's exactly what makes you so charming.
