Lack of motivation at work - the basics

Who doesn't know it, today I have no desire at all to go to work. Once I'm there, the same feeling carries on, I have no desire whatsoever to work. These thoughts often come up on Mondays. Thoughts like these aren't bad in themselves, as long as they're limited to Monday or the odd day. It gets more serious when the feeling comes up more often, or becomes a permanent state. If you feel unmotivated at work all the time, the alarm bells should ring. It's time to find the cause and make changes. Signs of an impending burnout can't be ruled out either.

There can be several reasons why you no longer feel like working at your job, including:

-am I working in the wrong profession? -do I have too much stress at work? -is it because of my coworkers?

There can be many reasons that lead to lack of motivation at work, maybe my job doesn't fulfill me, or I simply have the wrong profession.

The wrong job makes me sick, both physically and mentally

The worst part is that I take my frustration home with me, to my family. If I'm single, I often don't feel like doing anything in my free time either. The lack of motivation at work usually carries over to home as well. The bad mood then rubs off on the kids and my spouse. My circle of friends also gets my bad mood and my lack of drive. High time for change, the lack of motivation shouldn't become a permanent state.

What can you do about a lack of motivation at work?

There are various ways to change this situation for the better. If it's down to my coworkers, for example, then the famous question arises: why? Is it them or is it me? A conversation about this topic sometimes works wonders. If there's no improvement or solution here, then maybe the time has come to quit. A change of job could be a solution too?

The workload also often plays no small role. Maybe too much stress that carries on at home. Self-inflicted stress often plays a big part here as well. Instead of relaxing within your own four walls, the workday continues here too. I keep working after hours, a side job or something similar. This situation is often underestimated; it would be better to simply let your mind wander at home, switch off, just relax. Many people affected take their work home with them; it's better to switch off and let work be work. That topic will come around early enough the next morning.

Even a different kind of work could be the solution to the puzzle. Just ask your employer about it.
