Dissatisfaction at the workplace

We all know the feeling of being totally out of place at work on one day or another, don't we? But what do we do when this feeling shows up more and more often? What if dissatisfaction at the workplace becomes an everyday thing? There are ways to break out of this vicious circle. But they take courage if they're to be followed through to the end.

How does dissatisfaction at the workplace come about?

"Dissatisfied workplace" - these two words really shouldn't appear together in one sentence. And yet that's happening more and more often to many employees. We want to uncover the reasons here.

Reason 1 - Too little money The cost of living keeps rising. Salaries, however, stay the same at most companies. If an employee finds that he does his daily work well but still can't make ends meet, he becomes dissatisfied over time. That's a completely natural reaction.

Reason 2 - The feeling of being exploited If you feel like you spend more time at work than at home for your pay, you increasingly get the feeling of being a slave to the company, of being exploited.

Reason 3 - Relentless pressure Many employees know the scenario: they're expected to handle more and more work in the same amount of time. The pressure can rise beyond measure. Besides, not everyone can take the same amount of pressure. Some more, some less.

Reason 4 - The meaning of the work Anyone who starts questioning the meaning of their work has already, in the back of their mind, handed their transfer request or even their resignation to HR. Because only meaningful work can produce a satisfied employee.

Reason 5 - An authoritarian boss Few people can work for an authoritarian boss in the long run without suffering emotional damage. "Dissatisfied workplace" is the most natural combination of words in the world here.

Reason 6 - Bad chemistry Even if the work is fun and the pay is right, bad chemistry between coworkers can spoil a workplace for you. And at some point, well, you've at least quit in your head already.

Reason 7 - The wrong job No, not every job is actually the right one. Of course you should keep doing it until you've found a new one, so you keep getting paid and don't end up with a gap in your résumé.

Reason 8 - Recognition? Despite great commitment to the work and to the company, the employee gets no recognition? That's the case for many people.

Reason 9 - Unsuitable tasks Doing the same boring tasks day in, day out can't lead to a good relationship between employer and employee.

Of course, these are only some of the reasons you can be dissatisfied with your workplace. But if even one of these thoughts comes up and you can name it as such, that is the first step toward a new job. Carefully studying job ads, sending speculative applications, and of course talking with friends, acquaintances and relatives who may also have ideas for a new position are all the best ways to quickly find a satisfying job. And that's exactly the solution, right?
